Truth Nugget: Ask and Receive

As an infant (and even in the womb), Heavenly Father intended for to you to know that you are welcomed, loved and accepted by your mother and father. You experience this through their gentle loving touch, kind voice and the smile of their eyes. You cry out when you have a need (bottle, diaper change, hugged) and your parents come to provide that want and need - - - so you feel protected and all is well within you as well as around you. You have learned to RECEIVE what you need.

THEN, before you are 5 years old, you learn to ASK for what you want or need and know that your parents will provide it.

This is the way God intended it to be, for you in learning to RECEIVE then to ASK. What if your parents didn’t have the chance to learn to receive from their parents? This then leaves you clueless in how to receive good things because that vital lesson of life and well-being was not imparted to you.

Instead you learned to build walls of protection through your circumstances, and guilt and fear became your base of living rather than asking for what you need and receiving His love. OR…

You are afraid to ask because you know you will never get it, or asking could prove hurtful. And, you actually have been taught through circumstances, to live out your life not asking- - -just to protect yourself.

Jesus shows a way out. First, letting go and then forgiving those parents who have hurt you; and forgiving God Who you believe won’t be there for you either.

Don’t forget to forgive yourself for believing you are not worthy of anything good, and for probably messing up in your own parenting skills.

NOW, choose to take a new direction. Find one good thing to ASK God for today. Ask Holy Spirit to help you RECEIVE from Him so your JOY is made full and then He can move that love through you to others.

John 16:24 AMP “Up to this time you have not asked a [single] thing in My Name…; but now ask and keep on asking and you will receive, so that your joy…

may be full and complete.”

What wonderful words Jesus spoke to us. Trust Him and embrace His words.
